Need information on jQuery and YFScrollBar in YF 7.1

Hello Team,

We are facing lot of performance issues while retrieving the data. Even if we filter the data for 1 day, the browser takes around 10 minutes to display the data.

The performance is mush better is we use google chrome and firefox.

We have worked with Microsoft on "why the performance is slow with IE" and they came back saying older version of jQuery and YFScrollBar are being used in yellowfin.

Can you please confirm the same.

Need information on jQuery and YFScrollBar in YF 7.1

Microsoft has looked into the WPR trace and suspect the below files causing a slowness.

One is with YFScrollBar.js and I also see the jQuery version is too old i.e. version 1.7.2

http://servername/js/YFScrollBar.js?20151203!scrollBar.getTotalSpace-167:33

http://servername/js/jquery-1.7.2.min.js?20151203!append-3:32385

Would it be possible to upgrade jQuery versions to latest?

Hi Bharath,

Thanks for your patience.

I have discussed with developers, and yes we were using jQuery1.7.2 version in the older builds but from 7.35 version we are using ver 3.2.1.

YFScrollBar is internally built plugin using jquery 1.7.2

Sorry, you cannot upgrade jQuery by itself. You only got 2 options, either stop using Internet Explorer or else upgrade Yellowfin to latest build.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Mahesh

Hi Mahe,

Thanks for your response. Can you confirm if these files are the cause for bad performance ? if yes, then we can plan to upgrade to the latest build.

And you mean to say that upgrading will update both these files right?

Bharath

Hi Bharath,

I have tried to speak to a developer who knows more about jQuery and YFScrollBar, he is actually on leave and will be back next week.

I will update you as soon as I hear from the developer, hopefully next week.

Please let me know if you have any other questions in the mean time.

Hi Bharath,

Thanks for your patience.

As older version of jQuery is causing an issue an on IE, and jQuery is updated in 7.35, so, we believe it is matter of testing it in your environment.

We haven't heard from other clients specifically about this issue, as you know the usage of the tool and the environment makes lots of difference.

So we recommend you to please install the latest build in your testing environment and check the behaviour on IE. If you are happy with the behaviour then you can update the production.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Mahesh
