Unattended Mode (i.e. From Command Line)

Is it possible to run a pre-defined report (ad-hoc) and send it the required parameters (i.e. criteria), produce the output as either Excel or PDF (depending on one of the parameters) and then just get the name of the (Excel/PDF) file produced,

This way we can use YellowFin in the background to produce our reports from our server based application and just serve the output via http to the client that requested it.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jon,

I hope all is well,

We have 2 options here, this being Web Services and Broadcasts although i'm sure you would be leaning more towards the Web Services;

Option 1 - Web Services

Although I can't provide exact information to what you want, looking at Web Services would be a great start, you would need some good knowledge of how this works to what you require... Please see this link for some examples; http://wiki.yellowfin.bi/display/USER73Plus/Report+Service#ReportService-Functions - We have quite a good knowledge base with plenty of information covering this area.

NOTE: You can run a report and export it in different formats.

Option 2 - Broadcasts

Setting up 2 broadcasts and use the business logic to look for values in the report. Each broadcast could be of a pdf or excel document.

I know this is probably not much help but pointing you in this direction should help you with achieving what you want.

Regards,

Mark
