I need to export datasets, views and reports from one install to another, is the API the only way?

Hi Julius,


Thanks for getting in touch with us on this. The Yellowfin application allows you to export it's internal configurations (datasources, views, reports) from within the Admin Console. Step-by-step instructions for completing this process can be found in this article.


This process does not export the following:

  • External Databases
  • Users
  • Roles
  • User Groups
  • Broadcasts


If you looking to test a newer version of Yellowfin on a separate instance, we would recommend taking a backup of your existing Yellowfin database and restoring it on the new instance. If this is what you are working on and would like some additional help on this, please let me know.
