[NOTICE] Google Chrome policy change that might affect certain Yellowfin UI behaviour

Mark McGuire shared this announcement 40 days ago

There appears to be a change in Google Chrome’s policy that might affect Yellowfin BI’s UI behaviour.

Starting in March 2025, Google Chrome began gradually deprecating the unload event. As a result, some Yellowfin navigation behaviour may be affected in Chrome.

Customers experiencing this issue may notice the following symptoms:

  • The 'Return to Dashboard' button appears even when a report was opened directly, rather than from a dashboard.
  • Closing a report redirects the user to the last viewed dashboard instead of the browse page.

This issue will be addressed in a future Yellowfin release. In the meantime, it can be worked around by adding an additional response header to the OWASPSecureHeaders filter in:

<yellowfinInstall>/appserver/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/web.xml

Add the Feature-Policy init parameter to allow continued use of the unload event:

For more information about web.xml configuration, refer to our Wiki documentation page here.

The Yellowfin Team
